Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga which is both gentle and challenging. It is a
passive, rejuvenating practice that works your body in a much different way than
a Yang class would by having long, deep holds to relax and restore joints and
muscles. Yin Yoga asks you to remain still in poses for long periods, typically on
the floor, allowing the muscles to surrender and relax. Most poses are seated or
reclined and are held for 3-5 minutes.
This class may be more mentally challenging for some because it is a quieter,
slower practice. The slower nature of this practice is often described as a “moving
meditation” as the holds allows us to go within. The room would be warmed
between 80-85 degrees allowing the space to feel safe to “let go and be silent”.
This is just enough warmth for the muscles to release and relax, but not enough
to cause unnecessary stress to the body. During this Warm Soulful Yin practice,
you will come to learn that simple doesn’t necessarily mean easy. This class is a
great complement to your regular practice and suitable for all levels.
